Would you vote for the creation of an Independent Ethics Commission to provide oversight of the executive and legislative branches of government in New Mexico? I would support the creation of an Independent Ethics Commission, because as legislators we are constantly questioned about our duty to uphold the public’s trust through transparency and accountability.

What measures would you take to make New Mexico state government transparent, accessible and accountable to the public? I am in favor continuing the practice of recording legislative sessions, committee meetings and floor votes making them available to the public at all times online. The ability of rural communities to have access to their State Government is vital and extremely important to maintain public trust. I am also in favor of increased transparency with lobbying expenditures as a means to bring further accountability.

Would you give permission to the Legislative Council Service to make publicly available the final amounts you personally allocate to various capital outlay projects? I gauge Capital Outlay projects by knowing the communities and their Chapter House and infrastructure needs. Disclosing the amounts allocated to the Chapters House communities honors the efforts they have gone through to share their needs with me and to complete their projects.

If you think reform of the capital outlay system is needed, how would you reform it? If you don't think reform is needed, give us your reasons. I see my Chapter Houses as needing assistance in implementing their projects. I feel a policy that would systemize a practice of following up with Capital Outlay projects by providing training where needed to ensure a timely and complete drawdown of Capital Outlay funding.

Does New Mexico need to invest more in early childhood development? If you think it does, in your opinion what is the best way to invest? If you don't think New Mexico needs to invest more, tell us why. I am a product of early childhood education, I know first-hand that early child hood builds the cognitive foundation necessary for a child to grow into a well rounded adult and take advantage of the various opportunities he or she will come upon. Increasing our investment from the Land Grand Permanent Fund for early childhood education has never been more important than it is today, as our State is last in well being.

What measures would you take to improve the state's long-term economy? I believe that investing in renewable energy builds a stronger and more secure economy for all New Mexicans. My district has a highly skilled workforce therefore it’s necessary to advance policies that encourage out of the box thinking for entrepreneurship.

Would you support the legalization of cannabis for adult recreational use in New Mexico? Why or why not? I think we need to take into a consideration the safety and long term well being of our communities when considering the legalizing of marijuana for recreational purposes.
